Knox Wastewater Superintendent Discusses Lift Station Garbage

Knox Wastewater Superintendent Jason Clemons told the Knox Board of Works members Wednesday morning that recent lift station cleanup showed continued issues with garbage.

Clemons stated that residents are flushing items down the toilet that get caught up in the lift stations and cause costly wear and tear on equipment.  Crews are finding baby wipes, other wipes, shop towels, mop heads, sanitary and cleaning products, and other items causing issues with the proper operation of the lift stations.  He asks residents to only flush toilet paper to keep everything in working order.

Crews were able to use a vac truck to clean out the lift stations.
