La Porte City Police officers are investigating a shooting in the area of 104 East Lincolnway Monday afternoon.
When officers arrived at the scene after 3 p.m. CT, they found a man in the roadway who suffered a gunshot wound to his foot and was transferred to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the report.
A male subject was detained at the time. A search of the area reportedly yielded a firearm.
After further investigation, the detained subject, identified as Charles A. Turner, was taken into custody. He was arrested on preliminary felony charges of aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, battery, obstruction of justice, intimidation, possession of cocaine, and possession of methamphetamine. He also faces preliminary misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and resisting law enforcement.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
