The Starke County Parks and Recreation Board members appointed a new park superintendent during their meeting this week.
Member Rik Ritzler said there were four candidates who submitted applications for the position of superintendent. The board ultimately voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Camryn Kopka as the park superintendent. She comes to Starke County after serving three seasons as the Assistant Manager of the Winamac Town Park. According to information provided, during her tenure at Winamac, she gained experience with ADA Compliance, playground equipment, grant research and writing, maintenance of grounds and buildings, budgets and reports.
She will undergo an evaluation after six months of employment with a chance of a raise of her beginning salary at over $38,000.
Additionally, the board unanimously approved the appointment of Tabitha Dilner as the Park Clerk. According to information provided, Dilner is a resident of Bass Lake and has extensive experience in executive office management, graphic design, event and program coordination, and social media and web design. Dilner will be working part-time with regularly established office hours.
Both Kopka and Dilner will begin in their new roles Monday, March 14 with offices located in the Starke County Annex Building 2 on Pearl Street in Knox.
