West Central School Superintendent Dan Zylstra gave the school board members an update on the COVID-19 situation at the corporation last week.
“I talked about our new COVID protocols that we’ve been able to enact due to the governor’s recent adjustment,” said Zylstra. “We’re really enjoying no close contact tracing and we’ve had very few cases of COVID. So, we are close to business as usual as we have been since the Spring of 2020.”
At the West Central School Corporation, individuals who test positive will need to isolate for 5 days and can choose to wear a mask on days 6-10 or isolate for the full 10 days. Should any school exceed a 10% absence threshold, corporation officials will coordinate with the local health department to determine next steps. Finally, individuals are encouraged to continue to remain home if ill and should only return to school if they are fever-free for 24 hours.
