Hamlet Wastewater Operator Jason Clemons is urging residents to be mindful of what is being flushed into the town’s sanitary system.
He told the Hamlet Town Council members last week that there have been issues with items that should not be flushed down the toilet. Some of those items have clogged lift stations and it is causing damage.
Clemons reminds residents that only human waste and toilet paper should be flushed into the sanitary sewer lines in order for operations to run smoothly. Items that claim to be flushable, like wipes, should not be flushed into the sanitary system. No other chemicals or everyday household use items should be flushed.
