Members of the North Judson Redevelopment Commission and the North Judson Town Council will be meeting May 9 to discuss water and sewer financial reports and rates.
North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said it has been five years since the last sewer rate increase and just under five years since the last water rate increase. He explained there are certain requirements the town must maintain regarding bond ordinances.
“We need to look at those again as costs, of course, increase between fuel, materials, projects – costs go up every year,” commented Rowe. “As we continue to improve and maintain our systems here, it’s time to look again at where our rates are. We’re looking at the health of our water and sewer General Operating funds, our modern interest and Debt Service Reserve accounts.”
In other news, Rowe noted that Utility Superintendent Joe Leszek said the third phase of the ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades are about done as well as the paving projects on John, Lucas, Luken, Weninger, Second and Woodrow Streets that were previously awarded Community Crossings Matching Grant funds. Road patching is also underway.
