North Judson-San Pierre School Board Reviews HVAC Bid for Gym

The North Judson-San Pierre School Board members reviewed a bid this week for a new HVAC unit for the High School Gym.

Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin said the estimated cost of that unit in the fall was $360,000.

“We only had one bid and that bid was for $1.154 million,” stated Dr. Zupin.  “We needed to officially reject that bid.  It’s just too high.  Labor and fuel costs were major factors and we’ll revisit that at another time.”

The board did approve action to reject the bid.

The board had discussed getting the new unit to improve air quality and circulation in the gym.  While the purchase was approved with the use of ESSER funds for this project, the board will wait until prices come down to move forward with the replacement.
