A new executive director has been named for the SCILL Center.
Former Interim Executive Director Dr. William Reichhart said Jim Hernandez was named following a SCILL Center Board meeting Thursday morning.
“Jim comes to us with a background of being in the Marines,” explained Dr. Reichhart. “One of his accomplishments was being a Sergeant at the young age of 20. This demonstrates his leadership abilities and the board feels very strongly that Jim will be a fantastic leader for our organization going forward. Jim’s first day will be this coming Monday, April 11.”
Hernandez will be overseeing the EMT, welding, robotics, and automotive tech programs within the SCILL Center curriculum for students in grades 9-12.
Dr. Reichhart noted that more adult education opportunities are on the horizon.
“Jim will be working with not only our adult welding program, but we’re also looking at other opportunities for our employers in Starke County. If somebody has the desire to work here for one of our businesses in Starke County, hopefully we can offer them the training going further with that as well,” stated Dr. Reichhart.
Hernandez will be on contract through June 30, 2023 and his office will be located in the SCILL building in the Knox Industrial Park.
