The Starke County Commissioners were presented with an easement transfer request Monday night involving .15 acres on 50 South in the Knox Industrial Park.
County Attorney Justin Schramm explained that Wabash Valley Power asked for the easement to construct a fiber loop build-out. The company would like to purchase the easement from the county in the amount of $5,900.
Schramm said the commissioners had to decide if the offer was fair. If not, then there would be a legal process to go through and the county may get 15 to 20 percent more than the offer, but it is not guaranteed.
Commission President Charlie Chesak commented that he thought it was fair and a motion was made to accept the easement transfer request as presented. It passed with a unanimous vote.
