Starke County Commissioners, Council Discuss American Rescue Plan Act Funding

The Starke County Commissioners and Starke County Council members met in a special joint session Monday afternoon to discuss the county’s American Rescue Plan Act funding.

Starke County is expected to receive $4.4 million.

The government leaders agreed to earmark $100,000 for community projects, $1 million for infrastructure, $100,000 for document restoration, $200,000 for economic development, and $3 million for lost revenue which covers a broad range of possibilities.

A resolution that would outline proposed plans on areas in which to spend money will be presented to both the commissioners and the council in upcoming meetings.

The meeting Monday afternoon was for discussion only.  No formal decisions were made and there were no specific projects that were allocated money.   More discussions will be held in public meetings to make more concrete plans.
