Starke County Commissioners Discuss Fuel Bids

The Starke County Commissioners discussed fuel bids for the Highway Department when they met last week.

Previously, Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert discussed a potential fuel contract with the commissioners to see if they wanted to lock in gasoline and diesel fuel prices for the year.

Dipert said he has been looking at the fuel budgets and funds will hold out as long as prices stay where they are.

After reviewing prices, the commissioners decided not to enter into a contract at this time and just pay for fuel as it is needed.  They agreed that prices are high and volatile at this time and if the prices come down, they do not want to be stuck paying a higher price.

They will revisit the idea of a contract in a few months.
