Starke Taskforce for Overdose Prevention to Host Prescription Drug Take Back Event

The Starke Taskforce for Overdose Prevention, in partnership with Alcohol and Addictions Resource Center, will be hosting a Drug Take Back event at three locations in Starke County Saturday, April 30.

Anyone with unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications can safely dispose of them at the Knox City Police Department, San Pierre Fire Department or the Koontz Lake Fire Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT on April 30.  Liquids, syringes and other sharps, and illicit drugs will not be accepted.

This is a free service and there will be no questions asked.

According to the Drug Enforcement Agency, Drug Take Back Day has removed more than 15 million pounds of medication from circulation since its inception more than a decade ago. These efforts are directly in line with DEA’s priority to combat the overdose epidemic in the United States.
