A new superintendent has been hired at the West Central School Corporation.
The West Central School Board met Monday night to approve the proposed superintendent contract for which a public hearing was held the previous week and then approved a candidate to fill the position.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra said work will start soon on the transition.
“We approved Dr. Cathy Rowe to take my place as superintendent at West Central starting on July 1,” said Zylstra. “Cathy comes to us from North Newton Schools where she is currently the superintendent. She has a great deal of experience as an administrator in small schools and we’re very excited to bring her on to take my place here.”
According to additional information released by the school corporation Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Rowe will begin meeting with staff members over the next few months to lay the groundwork for a successful transition.
Dan Zylstra will be leaving the school corporation as superintendent at the end of June. He has accepted another position in Iowa. Zylstra has served as the superintendent at the West Central School Corporation for the past three years. Prior to that, he was the West Central Elementary School Principal for seven years.
