Memorial Day services are planned in the Starke County area.
The Knox VFW Post #748 will host its annual 24-hour vigil that begins Sunday, May 29 at noon CT, following an 11:30 a.m. CT opening ceremony. It will close at noon CT Monday, May 30.
Knox VFW and Knox American Legion Post #131 members will take part in a Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 30 at the Veterans War Memorial at the Starke County Courthouse at 9 a.m. CT. Ted Hayes will be the emcee for the event. Attendees will then proceed to the Crown Hill Cemetery for a ceremony.
Also on Monday, May 30, members of the North Judson American Legion Post #92 will hold a ceremony at Pioneer Cemetery at 9 a.m., followed by a ceremony at the San Pierre Cemetery at 10 a.m. CT and LaCrosse at 11 a.m. CT. On the way to LaCrosse, a wreath will be deposited in the Kankakee River.
Hamlet American Legion Post #356 members will be at the Grovertown Cemetery at 10 a.m. CT for a ceremony on Monday, May 30, followed by a ceremony at the cemeteries at the Eagle Creek Church. At 11 a.m. CT, they will be at the Fletcher Cemetery for a ceremony. Snacks will be available at the Hamlet American Legion following the services.
