Students from the Oregon-Davis School Corporation will participate in the annual Mini Relay for Life event in order to raise money in the fight against cancer.
The walk is set for Friday, May 20 beginning at 7:25 a.m. CT. Students will collect monetary donations and will walk during the event for one class period as they learn ways to stay healthy. School Nurse Jessica Avarone stated in a news release that the effort also allows students to become knowledgeable about cancer and about doing something positive for others.
In addition to walking, students will take part in games, create class banners, and decorate luminaria bags in honor of, or in memory of, family and friends with cancer.
All money raised by the students will be donated to the American Cancer Society in the name of Oregon-Davis School Corporation.
