Those utilizing the Pulaski County Recycling/Transfer station for cardboard collection will soon see a charge for the service.
Manager John Kegarise presented the commissioners with a list of stops made to pick up cardboard and a proposed combined charge. For all 73 listed, it would be $1,900 weekly and an annual revenue of about $98,800, with the assumption of continued service.
Kegarise said the figures were based on the expense of four employees and the use of two trucks for 2-3 hours a day, and how much cardboard is picked up at each location.
He commented that if the cardboard is already baled, there would not be a charge to pick up the bales.
Discussions will be held concerning what would happen with billing and invoicing with this and it may start with Treasurer Teresa Bryant.
The commissioners approved a motion to approve the proposal as presented.
The new pricing would not go into effect until August 1.
Beyond that, Kegarise discussed increasing costs at the Transfer Station, but cautioned that prices should not increase too much. Kegarise was asked to compare costs from last year to give the Pulaski County Council an idea of what to put in the budget.
