The Starke County Environmental Management residential household hazardous waste collection event is set for Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT at the Recycle Center at 3835 E. 250 N. in Knox.
Televisions will be taken for $25 per set, along with unlimited appliances, one computer monitor for free, and unlimited CPUs, keyboards and printers.
Acceptable household hazardous waste includes oil and oil filters, household batteries, mercury thermometers, pet spray and dip, poisons, pesticides and herbicides, chemicals and ammonia, oil-based paints/solvents/thinners, cleaners, insecticide, waste fuels/gasoline/antifreeze, fluorescent tubes, aerosols, pool supplies, and adhesives and glues.
Hazardous waste will be accepted from residential households in unlimited quantities and cannot include commercial or industrial waste.
The following items will not be accepted: Latex paint, tires, residential garbage, furniture, or construction debris.
