Winamac Town Council Approves Fireworks Funding, Memorial Day Donations

The price went up to put on the fireworks show in Winamac, but the Winamac Town Council members were determined to not alter the quality or length of the show despite that increase.

Winamac Town Manager Brad Zellers said the show typically costs $5,750, but with inflation the price went up to $7,500 for the same show.  The council members agreed that they did not want to take anything away from the popular event and will pay the increased cost which is available in the budget.

The fireworks show is held on July 4 at the Winamac Community High School at dusk.

Zellers added that the town is working to get the splash pad opened Memorial Day.  Crews are checking the system for any issues, and installing a new swingset at the splash pad.

Additionally, the Winamac Town Council agreed to donate $500 to the Winamac VFW and $250 to the American Legion for the purchase of American flags to be placed on veteran’s graves at the Winamac Cemeteries for Memorial Day.
