Hamlet Park Board Approves Donations to Organizations, Accepts Donation

The Hamlet Park Board members approved several annual donations to organizations during their meeting last week.

They agreed to donate $250 toward the Knox fireworks show, $250 to the Starke County Fair Board, and $500 to the Yellowstone Trail Fest.  Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said these amounts were budgeted for this year.  Funds were also set aside for baseball when that request is made.

Board member Brian Earnest asked if enough money is budgeted for the Christmas party for the kids this year and Pitts assured the board that enough funds would be available for that.

On the heels of the approval of the funds, Jacque Ryan, acting on behalf of the Starke County Ambassadors Club, a branch of the Starke County Community Foundation, presented a donation to the Hamlet Park Board in the amount of $1,000.  Ambassador Club members Barbara McLaughlin and Cheryl Orkis were also in attendance to present the pop-up grant to the Hamlet Park Board.

Ryan explained that the Ambassadors Club started with these grants last year and will continue this year.  The club members plan on giving out similar grants to local park departments and more information those donation efforts will soon be provided.
