Officials at the Knox Community School Corporation are looking for a new athletic director.
Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart stated that the position was left vacant after the Knox School Board approved a transfer of Athletic Director Greg Estok to an administrative position.
“Greg Estok has been moved from the athletic director to the dean of students position,” explained Dr. Reichhart. “Greg has completed all of his course work for his administration license and needs to take the practice test in order to become a fully-licensed administrator. As soon as he completes that, his title will change to assistant principal at the high school.”
Dr. Reichhart clarified that the dean of students duties are somewhat similar to that of an assistant principal. It leaves out the ability to observe and evaluate teachers in the classroom.
When all is settled, Estok would replace outgoing High School Assistant Principal Korey Bucher.
With that transfer, the athletic director position is open and the application is posted on the school’s website.
Although the school board did approve several hires Tuesday night, including new Middle School Guidance Counselor Tristan Allen, Dr. Reichhart said staffing continues to be a challenge as teachers move on or retire.
The board also accepted the retirement of Beverly Albright who served as the Athletic Secretary for many years.
