North Judson Town Council to Consider Additional Election, Dispatcher Expenses in 2023 Budget

As North Judson Town Council members begin gearing up for the budget season, Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said two expenses will need to be brought up in budget discussions for 2023.

Rowe said the Starke County Clerk’s Office sent notice of the costs of the election that would need to be paid to the county for the Municipal Election in 2023.

“The county will not be seeing to those expenses as they have done in the past,” stated Rowe.  “There was some discussion amongst council members about moving the election to mid-term presidential year which would mean a portion of the council and myself would run on a one-year election in 2023 and then run again in 2024, and then it would be every four years after that.”

No formal decisions were made concerning that move and more discussions may be held in future public meetings.

Rowe added that Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich sent notice of a shared cost of a dispatcher in the amount of just under $12,000.

Rowe said both expenses will be discussed during budget sessions coming up in the next couple of months.
