Steve Lucas and Larry Wickert from the Prairie Trails Club appeared before the North Judson Town Council this week seeking a representative of the council to serve on a working group for a proposed trail extension through the town to the English Lake area.
Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said pieces of property that were part of the recent railroad sale could be used for the proposed project.
“Northern Indiana Railroad who purchased the line isn’t necessarily interested in them at all,” explained Rowe. “The town is going to work on getting those surveyed so that Northern Indiana Railroad could deed those back to the town and then we could open those up to being used by the trail groups in order to facilitate the continuation of the Eric Trail.”
Because two members of the council were not present at the last meeting, they will likely choose a representative during a special North Judson Town Council meeting scheduled for Monday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. CT at North Judson Town Hall.
