The work on the Pulaski County Justice Center addition is drawing closer to completion.
Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer gave the county commissioners an update Monday night. He said errors by the architects caused a delay in the completion of the project, as well as a change order that was about $70,000. The change order was cut in half after negotiations conducted on behalf of the county, architect and the construction company.
“With that delay from the change order, turnover is technically scheduled for the first of July,” said Origer. “There’s just a lot of odds and ends wrap-up work happening this week. There are some door components where we’re facing some lead time problems. The exterior lock down entrances will be able to be used with keys. Badge or fob entry may be delayed a couple of weeks until those parts come in.”
He added that work is being done on the jury box, an Ethernet switch technology issue, and the ADA ramp with the sidewalk. The curb is higher than the street, but when the paving is being done a few extra measures will be taken to make everything compliant. Origer does not believe it will be too costly, but he is keeping a close eye on the contingency budget as the last portion of the project comes to a close.
