SCILL Center Student Becomes Nationally Registered EMT

SCILL Center Emergency Medical Services student, Lauren Powers, recently completed requirements to become a nationally registered EMT.

According to information provided by the SCILL Center, the requirements include the completion of an approved EMT course, passing a skills exam, passing the National EMT written exam, hands-on classroom work, and 24 hours of clinicals with 10 patients contacts.

Powers was part of the EMT program at the SCILL Center which was initiated in 2020, with Gale Hawkins as the licensed instructor.  

Powers is a 2022 graduate of North Judson-San Pierre High School and she will be working part-time as an EMT while completing college studies in Biology/Pre-Med with a specific interest in Neuroscience at Wesleyan University in Marion.
