Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert updated the Starke County Commissioners Monday morning on Community Crossings Matching Grant projects.
He said the work on County Road 700 East between State Road 8 and 625 South is nearly complete.
“The actual paving is done,” said Dipert. “They’re working on putting some stone alongside the berm. The last step will be to paint the stripes. I don’t know if you guys have been down that road yet, but we really raised it up and got it back level. It was really crowning in some areas. That’s a nice road.”
Rieth-Riley Construction Company was the contractor on the project.
During the next Starke County Commissioners meeting, Dipert said sealed bids will be opened for the Community Crossings Matching Grant project which involves repaving Range Road from 300 South to 250 North.
An application will be submitted for the second round of grants with a deadline in July.
He added that highway crews are working on chip seal projects.
Meanwhile, there are two driver positions that are open, compared to five several months ago, and a new asset manager was hired.
