The Town of North Judson has submitted a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said the main town park at will see some improvements if the town is awarded that grant.
“It will include the addition of some pickleball and beach volleyball courts to the south of the baseball fields there, and to the east we’re going to be redoing our basketball courts,” explained Rowe. “We’re going to add in more ADA-friendly walking paths and sidewalks pretty much from one side of the park to the other. We’re going to have two areas of playgrounds – a natural playground and a universal playground with ADA accessible features as well.”
Also included in the application are permanent cornhole playing surfaces.
The town applied for up to $500,000, which is the maximum allowable amount through the grant, with a 50 percent local match.
Grant announcements should be made in the next few months.
