The West Central School Board members reviewed a proposal to renew contracts for the building principals when they met last week.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra said there were slight changes made in the contracts.
“We did approve updated principal contracts for our building principals. We are very appreciative of the work they’ve done so we extended their contracts for another two years. There was a raise for the principals going into next year. We did a two-year collective bargaining agreement for the teachers that we ratified last fall so they got a built-in raise automatically, but since the principals aren’t a part of that we wanted to give one to them too,” stated Zylstra.
Contracts for Non-Certified employees were also approved, according to Zylstra.
“Those are the folks who are here all year around and we had approved a pay increase for them at the last board meeting so we approved those contracts.”
This was Superintendent Dan Zylstra’s last board meeting as the corporation superintendent. He will be leaving the position at the end of the month and then Dr. Cathy Rowe will take over in the position. The board recognized Zylstra during last week’s meeting where the board thanked him for his years of service and had cake in his honor.
