An open house is set for Thursday, July 28 at the new office of the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation in Knox.
Foundation Trustee Harold Welter said the opening of the new office is the next step in expanding the work of the Foundation, which provides grants to teachers who work with underprivileged children in rural schools.
Attendees of Thursday’s open house will have an opportunity to enter a drawing for a $500 grant to be awarded to the rural school of the winner’s choice. Additionally, Foundation officials will be on hand to gather input from attendees on how the Foundation can best move forward.
The Foundation has awarded nearly $60,000 in grants to 24 different schools in 13 different school corporations in the last four years.
The open house will begin at 2 p.m. CT at the new office at 1006 Edgewood Drive in Knox. WKVI will be broadcasting live during the event. The event closes at 6 p.m. CT.
