Community Gives Back to Downtown Businesses Affected by Fire

The Knox community is assisting those affected by last week’s fire at 18 S. Main Street by holding various fundraisers to help rebuild and remodel.

The Rabbit Coffee Roasting Co., located in downtown Knox, recently held a fundraiser to help Vorpal Gaming, Birdies Restaurant and The Downtown Depot after a Thursday morning fire destroyed Vorpal Gaming and caused smoke and water damage to the neighboring two restaurants.  They donated all sales July 1 to those affected by the fire.

10-56 Brewery is also helping to give back as they donate 20 percent off sales on Wednesday, July 6 toward the fire fund for the businesses affected.  The percentage will be taken off of dine in or carry out orders from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT at the business located at 2120 S. U.S. 35 in Knox.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Chris June and family who were displaced from living space due to the fire.  That link can be found here.

A hog roast fundraiser is also being planned by Silver Leaf Florist, according to a Facebook post by the Rabbit Coffee Roasting Co.

As of Tuesday, Knox-Center Township Fire Chief Kenny Pfost told WKVI News that the cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
