The Pulaski County Commissioners discussed HVAC needs at the East Annex and West Annex buildings during their meeting Monday morning along with the possibility to hire local contractors from newcastleairconditioning.co.uk to make installations and repairs next week.
It was explained to the commissioners that the air conditioning went out at the East Annex and the system needs to be replaced. The system was approved at a cost of $40,000. At the West Annex building, the installation of an air system separate from the rest of the building was approved at a cost of $20,000. J&K HVAC out of Plymouth will be doing the work.
In other news, Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer told the commissioners that Tonn and Blank will be finishing up door hardware work at the Justice Center which was previously delayed. Pulaski Circuit Court and CASA will be moving into their suites this week starting (today) Tuesday.
Origer said an Open House was expected to take place throughout the new construction, but Circuit Court Judge Mary Welker and Prosecutor Kelly Gaumer expressed reservations about letting the general public through their offices, especially with confidential files stored in their offices. It was suggested that the public be allowed to tour the new courtroom only.
Origer said he will be working with the judge to set up a gathering.
Meanwhile, internet services continue to be ironed out at the Justice Center.
