Plans for the Pulaski County Courthouse project are moving forward.
Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer told the Pulaski County Commissioners this week that he recently met with the architects and Tonn and Blank to discuss the project. He noted that this is the first chance Tonn and Blank officials have been able to dive into the details of the courthouse renovation project since finishing the Justice Center project.
The current drawings were reviewed during the meeting. The architects have raised concerns about mechanicals, plumbing and electrical work.
Barnes and Thornburg representatives will be updated on numbers to process more financial paperwork to pay for the project cost.
Origer said he’s been meeting with department heads to go over designs.
Origer stated, “We’ve been discussing entry into office suites, customer service security measures, whether they’ll have service counters in a corridor where it fits or in their offices, or if they’ll have a service window cut into the wall so they can limit foot traffic and increase individual office security. We’re having some of those conversations right now. I’ll continue working on that as well as working with courthouse office holders figuring out document scanning – storage solutions – and starting to work with all of you and with courthouse office holders who will need to give me their needs as we figure a temporary office relocation plan.”
Space has been tentatively assigned for the departments when the renovation gets underway.
Construction is expected to begin in January.
