Area firefighters battled house fires in North Judson and Knox over the Fourth of July weekend.
The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was called to a trailer house fire just Sunday, July 3 after 1:30 p.m. CT with the assistance of the Knox-Center Township Fire Department.
Meanwhile, the Knox-Center Township Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 1900 block of South 300 East shortly after 4:30 a.m. CT Monday, July 4. Fire Chief Kenny Pfost said flames were showing out of the vacant home.
The first fire apparatus arrived in eight minutes of the call and it was well involved at the time, according to Pfost.
There were no injuries reported during this fire and the cause and origin remain under investigation.
The Knox-Center Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, Bass Lake-California Township Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, Starke County EMS and the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
