Starke County Election Board Discusses Early Voting

The Starke County Election Board members discussed early voting hours and locations when they met last week.

The board members previously discussed moving the Koontz Lake location to the Koontz Lake Missionary Church as there is better parking, lighting and a bigger facility, but the church board declined the request of the board to hold the election there.  Early voting and voting on Election Day for the General Election will remain at the Koontz Lake Association Building this fall, but the board members will continue to seek an alternate location to host elections.

In-person early voting at the Starke County Courthouse will be Monday-Friday beginning Wednesday, October 12 through Friday, November 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT.  Voters will also be able to cast an early ballot at the courthouse Saturday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT and Monday, November 7 from 8 a.m. to noon CT.

Satellite voting hours will be available at the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28 from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday, October 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT.

Satellite voting hours will also be available at the Koontz Lake Association Building Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4 from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT.

The General Election is Tuesday, November 8 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT at seven Vote Centers in Starke County: Bass Lake-California Township Fire Department, James Hardesty Community Building in Hamlet, Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox, Koontz Lake Association Building, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, Railroad Township Fire Department in San Pierre, and the Washington Township Community Building.

The last day to register to vote is Tuesday, October 11 by the end of the business day at the clerk’s office, or by midnight if registering or changing a registration online at www.indianavoters.com.
