The Food Bank of Northern Indiana will be in Starke County on Wednesday and Thursday this week for food distribution events.
The first distribution event is Wednesday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to noon CT at the James R. Hardesty Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Station and Community Center at 15 W. Indiana Ave. in Hamlet. This event is sponsored by the Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund through the Starke County Community Foundation.
The second distribution event is Thursday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to noon CT at Healthlinc at 104 E. Culver Road in Knox. This event is sponsored by Healthlinc.
Both events are drive-thru events and will serve 250 households, or while supplies last. Food items are free of charge and are pre-boxed and pre-bagged. They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis for those in need of food assistance. One box will be given per household.
Officials ask that recipients remain in vehicles and open the vehicle’s trunk to receive items. An area will be available for self-loading if the vehicle’s trunk does not open.
