A Knox man was arrested Wednesday, September 28 on several charges following an investigation into a call about a suspicious person.
Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith said the Knox City Police Department received information abut a suspicious man pushing a child in a stroller while walking in front of traffic on Culver Road. The man then walked toward the rear of the Starke County Public Library – Henry F. Schricker Branch.
Knox School Resource Officer Travis Schieber of the Knox City Police Department approached the man as he walked toward the entrance of the Knox Elementary School.
Robert Fultz, 34, of Knox, was reportedly found to be in possession of a knife on school property, and in possession of suspected methamphetamine and narcotic drugs. During the investigation, he was allegedly found to be under the influence and became non-compliant and resisted arrest.
Fultz was taken the Starke County Justice Center and booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine (on school property enhancement), possession of narcotic drugs (on school property enhancement), neglect of a dependent, resisting law enforcement, and possession of a knife on school property.
The Knox City Police Department was assisted at the scene by Starke County EMS.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
