A Pulaski County Republican Party Caucus is scheduled to find a new Pulaski County Coroner.
The Republican Party Caucus will be held Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. ET at the Star City Community Center at 2550 E. Key Street. Interested Republican candidates to fill the unexpired term of Pulaski County Coroner need to file the proper documents with Republican Party Chairman Dan Murphy at least 72 hours prior to the caucus.
Pulaski County Coroner Jon Frain submitted his resignation to Murphy on Monday, September 12. He will be in office until Monday, September 26.
Frain said he plans on focusing on his family and his business.
John Behny previously resigned as deputy coroner in August. His last day was September 9. The position of chief deputy coroner has not been filled.
Frain’s term as Pulaski County Coroner ends December 31 of this year. His name is on the November General Election ballot for the position. Pulaski County Clerk JoLynn Behny said it will remain on the ballot as it is too late to make that omission.
If Frain happens to be elected in November, Murphy said Frain can either take office or refuse it. Since it is likely he will refuse the position, another caucus will be held after January 1, 2023 to select his replacement.
