Several local organizations in the area will be honoring those who have served and who are serving in the Armed Forces this Veterans Day.
Veterans Day, or Armistice Day, is recognized every November 11 as the anniversary of the end of World War 1 in 1918.
The American Legion Post 92 in North Judson will be serving food for veterans beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
The American Legion Post 356 in Hamlet will have a fish fry on Friday and a pork chop dinner with serving at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday. The public is welcome to purchase meals both days. The band Jolly Roger will play Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
The American Legion Post 131 in Knox will have a free chicken and noodle dinner for veterans on Veterans Day beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT. Those who are not veterans may purchase meals.
The area schools will be hosting veterans for various programs in recognition of Veterans Day.
