It was a big night for Starke County Republican candidates in the November General Election.
Republican Leslie A. Baker defeated Autumn C. Ferch for Starke County Prosecuting Attorney while Republican Jack Rosa defeated Democrat Kelly Fisher and Independent Dennis Fornelli for Starke County Sheriff.
In other races, it was Republican Norman Bruce Bennett over Democrat Bradley Hazelton in the Starke County Council District 1 race. Republican Howard A. Bailey Jr. received the most votes for the County Council District 2 seat over Democrat Louis George Sommerfield Jr. Republican Cassandra Hine defeated Democrat Clayton L. Redlin in the County Council District 4 race.
Republican Tiffany Nagai was the winner over Democrat Robin Latimer in the Davis Township Trustee race. The top three voted candidates for the Davis Township Board race were Republican Rebecca (Becky) Pflugshaupt, Republican Robert Ferch and Republican Larry Jernas.
The top three voted candidates for the Washington Township Board race were Republican Anthony (Tony) Black, Republican Kimberly S. Temple and Democrat Robert E. Olejniczak. The top three voted candidates for the Wayne Township Board race were Republican Tim (Ralph) Cummins, Democrat David C. Altman and Democrat Alicia (Amidei) Collins.
Jason Downs defeated Mary Lynn Ritchie in the Knox Community School Board California Township Race and Gary Dulin defeated Raymond Stephenson in the Center Township seat for the Knox Community School Board.
Erin Duff defeated Michael (Mike) Yankauskas for the Knox Community School Board Washington Township seat.
The top three voted candidates for the Oregon-Davis Community School Board At-Large were Kurt A. Hayes, Terry Minix and Kyle J. Hinds.

Just over 40 percent of voters turned out at the polls to cast a ballot. Of the registered 17,647 voters in Starke County, 7,107 was the total public count.
