The North Judson Town Council previously unanimously approved a 12-month contract for the purchase of a GPS/dual camera package system with professional install for town squad cars and other possible utility vehicles through Verizon.
For a one-time fee of $976.00 and a monthly fee of $347.20, Pro Installers are going to install new GPS/dual camera systems in town vehicles. This new system offers cloud storage so that 30 second-10 minute videos will be saved without taking up any of the town’s IT storage. This will come in handy when it comes to traffic stops or even plow truck damage. The duel camera will record inside and outside the cab providing protection for both the public and town employees.
The system also provides live GPS tracking, monitors distance traveled, fuel usage, idle time of the vehicle versus hours the vehicle is being used, and sends alerts for maintenance such as oil changes or other repairs.
Council members hope that if this new system is successful, they can add the fire trucks and other utility vehicles in the future.
