The Culver Community School Board members reviewed bids for mechanical and electrical components planned for this summer at the corporation.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said two bids were received for mechanical work and the board accepted the lower bid submitted by DA Dodd in the amount of about $1.9 million.
The board also accepted the lone electric bid in the amount of $500,060 which is under the engineer’s estimate.
Each bid covers work in both the Elementary School and the Middle/High School.
The overall construction work will be covered by bond funds already approved by the board. A general construction bid was previously approved with R. Yoder Construction.
The projects at the Culver Elementary School include a library renovation, handicap lift for the stage, repaving parking lots, electrical updates, redoing water lines, new boilers, tuckpointing in the masonry, and replacing the gym floor.
Tuckpointing will done at the Middle/High School, along with a FACS (Family and Consumer Science) room renovation, locker room renovation, restroom renovation, band and choir room renovations, gym floor replacement, and the installation of a ramp in the high school auditorium instead of a handicap lift. Electrical panels will be updated, and pick-up and drop-off in the back of the school building.
