North Judson Town Council held further discussions last week on the Opioid Settlement Funds after a previous request was made from the Hope Restored Recovery Home for $15,000 from the town’s distribution.
While representatives from Hope Restored were not present at this meeting, the subject was still brought up as old business. In addition to Hope Restored’s requests, requests were made by the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department to be able to have Narcan on hand at ball games and other events. This request could be funded through the Opioid Settlement Funds. There are also other local governmental/intergovernmental organizations that could also make use of some of these funds.
With $26,000 in restricted funds, which means there are only certain things these funds can be used for, and $8,000 in unrestricted funds, the council members thought it would be best to plan a workshop to go over the funds and all the details so that they can know and understand how to best utilize these funds.
The discussion has been tabled until more information is gathered.
