The Starke County Community Corrections Advisory Board recently held a quarterly meeting where the board members approved the 2023 performance measures, and annual reports for all three IDOC grant funded programs. Those programs include Community Corrections, Pre-trial Probation, and the Jail Treatment Program.
Director Shawn Mattraw told WKVI News that all three programs, which receive funding from the Indiana Department of Correction to provide supervision of criminal offenders in the community, as opposed to confining offenders in secure correctional facilities, utilize evidence-based programs aimed at risk reduction for justice involved individuals.
In 2022, Community Corrections has 144 offenders served, 109 clients on Pre-trial Probation, and 72 clients in the Jail Treatment Program. According to Mattraw, the majority of the offenses are related to drugs and are non-violent in nature.
The Jail Treatment Programs offered include decision points, moral reconation therapy, and SMART recovery.
