The City of Knox Water Department will be flushing hydrants next week.
Mayor Dennis Estok recently shared that crews will be performing the task starting Tuesday , May 2 and running through Friday, May 5.
During this time, motorists are asked to avoid areas where they see crews working. Mayor Estok mentioned the process may result in some temporary discoloration in homeowner’s water. He explained when they start flushing, iron will be in the water sometimes because it stirs it out. He said to let your faucets run until the color clears.
In a past press release about the procedure, city officials noted that while the water will still be safe to consume and use, the color can be cleared up by running cold water from a bathtub or an outside faucet.
