Kid’s Closet Ministry officials have begun setting up for their huge rummage sale set for the weekends of May 4-6 and May 11-13 at the North Judson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
“It’s so big we had to split it up between two weekends,” stated the organizations founder, Linda Lewandowski.
Linda Lewandowski founded Kid’s Closet Ministry after having attended a six month course called Fruitful Congregation Journey. Her biggest take away from this course was that “we are meant to be outside of the church helping others”. Her passion has always been children. She had always worked with the children inside the church, but wanted to be able to help those outside of those walls.
From there, she started Kid’s Closet Ministry. Her vision is to bring God’s love, to change lives and to transform communities. The Ministry accepts gently used clothes, furniture and other items and helps to redistribute these items to families in need.
Every year Kid’s Closet Ministry holds a giant rummage sale to help raise funds to cover the monthly expenses and maintenance for the outreach facility. Their goal for this rummage sale is to hopefully collect enough to cover up to a year’s expenses. The rummage sale will be wall-to-wall so plan on a full weekend of shopping.
Donations are needed for gently used clothes, and volunteers to help maintain the donations box at the Knox United Methodist Church.
