New North Judson Town Council Member Chosen in Democratic Caucus

Linda Banks (R) is sworn into office by North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe

A Democratic Caucus was held Monday night to fill a vacant Ward 2 seat on the North Judson Town Council. There were two eligible candidates that met the Democrat handbook criteria.

Linda Banks grew up in North Judson, as well as her parents. Her father ran for Sheriff back in the 1960s. She has six siblings, three of which still reside in the area. Her work history includes banking and mortgaging, becoming branch manager three different times. She also worked at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department where she managed medical bills for the inmates and payroll for the staff. By the time she left the Sheriff’s Department she had become secretary to the Chief of Police. Linda has been retired for about four years now. She enjoys walking throughout the town and sees the face lift the town is getting. She has history and pride in her community and wants to be a part of the revitalization of her home town.

Douglas Wilde was born and raised in North Judson. He is a Bluejay alumnus, as well as having both his twin sons graduate from North Judson. Douglas ran his own business for 15 years remodeling and building new homes before having to make a career change. He is currently working as a line-man for NIPSCO. Mr. Wilde has served as president of the local Chamber of Commerce up until it merged with Knox, as well as serving for a year on the Starke County Development Board. Douglas is now in a position where he is able to give back to his community. He sees the things that have been done and believes there is still more that can be done.

With only three eligible precinct committee voters present, Linda Banks won the majority vote. Linda Banks will serve the remainder of the term which expires December 31, 2023.
