Winamac Park Board Receives Update from Pulaski County Tribe

Spring time is here and it is time for park enhancements and clean up.

Don Darda from the Pulaski County Tribe recently sought permission from the Winamac Park Board to begin planting plants and flowers throughout the park and town. Permission was granted unanimously by the board and work will begin right away.

Darda also spoke with the park board about the hopes of one day having an amphitheater in town. This amphitheater could provide a community gathering and entertainment space for community members and guests, and could be a revenue generator for the park board. The board said that when they had to put together their five year plan for grants, an amphitheater had been listed as their “dream project”. The idea is still in an exploratory phase. Pulaski County Tribe members are now site scouting and educating themselves on town and county ordinances.

Park clean-up will resume Saturday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to noon ET.

In other business, the Winamac Park Board welcomed Rick Mynark as a new member to the board. Mynark was appointed by the Pulaski County Library Board.
