City of Knox Announces Street Paving and Sweeping Routes

The City of Knox announced Rieth-Riley Construction, Co. will be paving several streets this week.

Roosevelt Road from Culver Road to 700 feet south of Veterans Parkway Bender Street as well as from Portland to Bower Washington Street will be paved this week. Other areas include Pearl Street to Heaton, and from Water Street to Mound Street.

This work is expected to be completed early in the week. Knox Mayor Dennis Estok announced in a press release, your cooperation and patience is appreciated as they perform much needed repairs to these streets. The city is asking citizens to please avoid driving through these areas if possible.

Mayor Estok would also like to remind city residents of the street sweeping routes and the hours and regulations. It shall be unlawful for the owner, driver operator of any vehicle to park or stop a vehicle or to permit his or her vehicle to be parked or stand at any time on the third Tuesday of each month from May through September during the hours of 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. CT.

Streets not allowed to be parked on during the times mentioned are Shield Street from Washington Street to Culver Road, Main Street from Washington Street to Culver Road, Pearl Street from Washington Street to Culver Road, Washington Street from Heaton to Shield Street, and Lake Street from Heaton Street to Shield Street.

Any violation of the street sweeping route shall be subject to the same penalties of ordinance 914 Section 9-444-9-446.
