La Porte County Sheriff’s Department Investigates Fatal Crash

Deputies from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department and emergency responders were called to a single-vehicle accident in the area of County Road 50 S. and 1000 E. in Wills Township, Thursday, May 25.

An investigation found that a black 2012 Toyota passenger vehicle was traveling west on County Road 50 S. when for an unknown reason the vehicle drove left of center and traveled across the eastbound lane.  Police say the vehicle left the south side of the roadway and continued traveling until it collided with a tree.  The vehicle came to rest in the roadway after it reentered 50 S., according to the report. 

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Braydon R. Flagg of Mill Creek.  He was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a regional hospital.  Deputies learned that Flagg died while in the emergency room. 

The crash investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released. Toxicology tests are pending. 

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department, La Porte County EMS, Memorial MedFlight, and the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office.
