The Medaryville Town Council members discussed a letter of recommendation and a bid that was rejected for the proposed wastewater project during a special meeting held May 9 during their meeting this week.
Although the bid was the lowest responsible bid presented, it still came in over budget based on the work the project required. Council members spoke with Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) representatives about the situation the town was in with finances and the concern with the risk of putting the project back out for bids only to not receive any.
OCRA agreed that it would be best to accept the bid that was presented and then make modifications to the project plan in order to fit the project budget.
The Medaryville Town Council members then agreed to set aside their May 9 motions of the rejected letter of recommendation and lowest bid, and then proceeded to make a motion to accept the previous lowest responsible bid to Gatlin Plumbing and Heating in the amount of $1,170,000. The motion passed unanimously.
