Knox, IN – Northwest Health – Starke recently named Julie Hazelton, RN, as its Team Member of the Year and honored her with the prestigious Daisy Award for extraordinary nursing. These achievements both pay tribute to Hazelton’s outstanding performance for delivering quality care and a great experience for each patient.
“I’d like to congratulate Julie and thank her for her ongoing dedication to compassionate care,” said Keith Nichols, Chief Executive Officer for Northwest Health – La Porte and Starke. “We value her commitment to excellence and are proud to have her as part of our Northwest Health team.”
Hazelton is a nurse on the medical-surgical unit at Northwest Health – Starke. For the team member of the year award, she was nominated by her peers who shared that Hazelton is known throughout the hospital as always approaching the day with a smile and positive attitude. They wrote that she is an amazing team member who is repeatedly recognized by both patients and families.
In her Daisy nomination, an oncology patient shared that Hazelton was one of the amazing nurses that took care of her and she is so thankful that their paths crossed. She wrote, “I knew I was in good hands when Julia was taking care of me; her skills and compassion for nursing are impeccable. The world needs more Julias!”
Team Members of the Year is an annual process honoring individuals who were nominated by their peers for their outstanding service. It has become a special tradition to celebrate caregivers and their ongoing contributions.
DAISY award recognitions honor the remarkable work nurses do every day – wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve throughout their entire careers. It was established to celebrate the extraordinary compassion that nurses continually provide their patients and families. Nurses may be nominated by employees, patients and hospital visitors.
